Near Field Communications (NFC) demo
May 18, 2012
SITA Lab worked with Orange Labs to conduct a research project on NFC, using an NFC-enabled phone as a boarding pass to automatically open security, airline lounge and boarding gates. NFC is still an evolving space with multiple implementation models. We chose to implement a solution taking full advantage of the secure element on the SIM card and over the air deployment from a trusted service manager (TSM) to the device. The project was a success and we now have a dedicated NFC demo room in our Geneva offices.

Near Field Communication (NFC) tap to WiFi App - New Technology
May 09, 2012
Blue Butterfly Digital have developed a revolutionary new means for businesses to offer WiFi to their customers and help build their online business profile too. Using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology as a way of linking commercial WiFi to Social Media platforms with just a simple tap to WiFi. It simplifies connecting to social media sites such as Foursquare and Facebook within social environments such as cafe's, bars and hotels. Find out more about NFC (near field communication) at www.bluebutterfly.co.uk Transcript In the past, when it came to people visiting your business, the real world and the online world were often not connected. Some businesses responded by offering free WiFi to their customers, but even then this often meant filling in a myriad of details and yet more passwords to remember. And then there's the overhanging threat of customers details being stolen from unsecured publicly accessible WiFi. Plus, your offline customers still weren't interacting with your business online. All this can leave a bitter taste in your customers' mouth. And all you were trying to do is offer good service. Not to mention the fact that, in addition to running your day-to-day business, you're also burning the midnight oil trying to raise your online profile. Luckily for you, there's now a much better way. Introducing Blue Butterfly Digital NFC - a revolutionary new means of providing your customers with a safe, convenient and easy way to connect to your Wi-Fi... and ...
Shmoocon 2012: Intro to Near Field Communication (NFC) Mobile Security
Apr 17, 2012
This video is part of the Infosec Video Collection at SecurityTube.net: www.securitytube.net Shmoocon 2012 Intro to Near Field Communication (NFC) Mobile Security Updated with Google Wallet and Android 4.0! As Near Field Communications (NFC) is integrated into our daily lives more and more (credit/debit cards and mobile payments, transit systems, ticketing systems), application developers should understand the risks of implementing NFC in mobile applications. This talk covers several current and proposed NFC implementations with case studies including attacks and mitigations, as well as the hardware basics behind NFC to better help developers and security testers understand the inherent strengths and limitations of NFC. The presentation will cover the ISO 14443 A and B standards, waveform modulation, and propagation across the RF channel. Demo attacks against NFC applications, including misdirecting FourSquare check-ins and malware which can intercept NFC intents to launch rogue applications, will be shown. We will show the data popular NFC enabled applications store including how it could be used to track when and where a device had been used. The presentation includes an in depth look at the NFC Data Exchange Format (NDEF) which is found across devices. Understanding and fuzzing this format can lead to parsers failing and crashing on malformed input as will be demonstrated against Android's Tags application. Max and Corey began looking at NFC when it was just a speck on ...
